SUMMARY:Pioneer Presents: Sustainable Chemicals Industry Briefing Note Launch
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the launch of our Sustainable Chemicals  industry briefing note \nFor decades\, the chemicals industry has benefited from abundant inexpensive fossil resources\, providing reliable and cost-effective source of raw materials. However\, as global temperatures continue to rise\, transitioning to a more sustainable economy is no longer an option but an obligation. Sustainable carbon feedstocks\, such as biomass\, recycled carbon\, and carbon dioxide\, offer potential solutions but come with higher costs and technological challenges that\nmust be addressed. \nThis briefing note discusses the critical role of the chemicals industry in modern society and the urgent need to transition to a more sustainable\, circular carbon economy. \n\n\nThis briefing note was created in conjunction with the chemicals sector community during a one-day Pioneer Presents workshop held in June 2024 at Pioneer’s Wilton Centre. Over 40 representatives from industry\, academia\, funding bodies\, investors\, and policymakers attended\, contributing to developing a comprehensive action plan to support the transition to a sustainable chemicals industry in the UK. \n\nIn this online webinar you will hear from the key collaborators of the industry briefing note\, and have the opportunity to ask our expert panel what’s next for the sustainable chemicals sector. \n\nAgenda: \n\n12.00: Introduction to Pioneer Group\nTBC\, Pioneer Group\n\n12.05: Presentation on the Sustainable Chemicals Industry Briefing Note \nDr Jen Vanderhoven\, Pioneer Group\n\n12.20 Expert Panel Q&A\nDr Peter Clark\, Innovate UK Business Connect\nDr Mark Corbett\, Biorenewables Development Centre\nProfessor Anju Massey-Brooker\, Royal Society Chemistry\nLois Hobson\, CPI\n\n13.00 Close\nThe briefing note has now been published here.

SUMMARY:Pioneer Presents: Royal Society of Chemistry - Sustainable polymer liquid formulations
DESCRIPTION:Join us with our partner\, The Royal Society of Chemistry\, to hear from Professor Anju Massey-Brooker about their mission for sustainable polymer liquid formulations (PLFs) – to catalyse the transition to a world in which we enjoy the benefits of PLFs while protecting the health of people and the planet. \nPolymers in liquid formulations (PLFs) play a vital role in our lives – from improving food productivity to treating wastewater – but they also have significant environmental impacts. Every year\, around 36 million tonnes of these materials are made from fossil sources – enough to fill Wembley Stadium 32 times over. \nThe Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)\, have been working with some of the leading chemistry-using companies in the world to put the issue of PLFs on the map\, and their Sustainable PLFs Task Force has set an overarching ambition for industry: transition to a sustainable PLFs market by 2040. \nAchieving this will require a concerted\, coordinated effort across the whole innovation ecosystem – from building the fundamental knowledge base\, to developing networks for collaboration\, investing in research and innovation\, and enacting effective policies and regulation. \nProfessor Anju Massey-Brooker is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry with multiple awards in academic research and industry and has recently accepted the roles of member and secretariat for the RSC’s Sustainable Polymers in Liquid Formulations (PLFs) Task Force. \n  \nThe online Teams meeting link will be shared to all delegates prior to the online event. \nPlease RSVP below to reserve your free place. \n
