London continues to lead Europe in life sciences. Its outstanding academic research, clinical excellence, talent and investment, along with unparalleled laboratory and amenity spaces like Victoria House, provide the perfect bridge between ideas in the lab and their impact in the real world.

The continued momentum in the capital’s life sciences scene over the past 12 months has been propelled in part by the London Growth Plan, published in February 2025. The Plan outlines the city’s 10-year ambition for growth, with the life sciences sector named specifically as a key driver of economic expansion.

London already has important competitive advantages in frontier innovation, with its globally leading universities; deep and diverse talent pool; access to global capital; a large market for innovation; and a culture of entrepreneurship. By 2032, the city is expected to add:

  • 6.2 million sq ft of new life science and technology lab and office space.
  • 80,000 life sciences jobs.
  • Significant new global investment in biotech, medtech and health innovation, following $2.1 billion venture capital funding deployed in 2025 – more than Paris, Stockholm and Berlin combined.

Further actions outlined in the London Growth Plan and the NHS 10-year Health Plan include supporting businesses to scale internationally and catalysing new innovation models, bolstering growth across digital health, medtech and advanced therapies.

Walkable Districts

A key part of the London Growth Plan is to grow specialist clusters that tap into these existing competitive advantages. It notes that “frontier innovation thrives in walkable districts that bring together research, investors, startups, corporates and, for life sciences, hospitals.”

One such example of a “walkable district” is the Knowledge Quarter. Situated in the heart of London and with a dense concentration of life-sciences focused academic and research institutions, the Knowledge Quarter is one of the world’s most important innovation districts for life sciences research.

Since it’s official launch last year, Victoria House has undoubtedly been the jewel in the Knowledge Quarter’s crown. Set in the world-renowned district of Bloomsbury, the neoclassical, Grade II-listed building offers 300,000 sq ft of contemporary office and lab space alongside close proximity to several world-renowned universities, hospitals, and medical research centres, including University College London, GSK, and Great Ormond Street Hospital. This level of proximity encourages collaboration between academic and medical institutions, top-tier investment capital, and a broad range of commercial life sciences companies.

With some of the UK’s most ambitious early-stage life science companies already choosing Victoria House as their London base, the space represents a concrete commitment to the future of London life sciences; it is a place where life sciences, technology entrepreneurs, academia, research, large pharma, and venture finance can collaborate, ideas flourish, businesses scale, and discoveries with the potential to transform human and planetary health are realised.

A Flexible Ecosytem Built To Scale

This concentration of people, capital and expertise matters only if companies can access the right space at the right stage of growth. For life sciences businesses, flexibility is what allows an idea to move from early idea to commercial scale without losing momentum.

As entrepreneurs and investors immersed in the life sciences, Pioneer Group understands the unique challenges life science companies face. , We have engineered an empowering, capital-efficient ecosystem on the Seventh Floor of Victoria House, designed to adapt as your business grows:

  • The Co-Lab (Early Stage): Take up residence with just a single 1m bench. Gain instant, pay-as-you-go access to state-of-the-art shared equipment.
  • Flexi Labs (Growth Stage): Graduate into private, scalable lab environments while retaining access to the shared amenities and community of the Seventh Floor.
  • Premium Labs (Scale-Up Stage): Move into ready-to-occupy, fully furnished laboratory suites with dedicated, private offices that your teams can call their own.
  • Bespoke Corporate Space (Enterprise Stage): Transition smoothly into custom-built, large-scale lab and office spaces tailored entirely to your company’s long-term enterprise requirements elsewhere in the building.

A Hotspot for Industry Events

A successful life sciences ecosystem is not built by infrastructure alone. While a good lab space creates the conditions for growth, community and connection help turn that growth into opportunity.

Through a busy programme of hosted, sponsored, and supported events, Victoria House welcomed thousands of people through its doors in the first half of 2026, from major summits to targeted networking and industry forums and conferences.

We are delighted to be hosting several upcoming events during London Life Sciences Week 2026. Launched by the UK BioIndustry Association, MedCity and London & Partners, London Life Sciences Week is a premier gathering of global investors and leaders from pharma and UK biotech companies, offering a dynamic week of networking and dealmaking.

Last year, we hosted more than 500 visitors across a variety of gatherings, from a live podcast recording to a traditional Scottish Ceilidh, and we’re proud to be continuing to support the Week and to play an important role again this year.

Among the many events confirmed for this year’s London Life Sciences Week at Victoria House are:

Where Collaboration Comes Naturally

London’s position as a leader in life sciences is being built through the interaction of world-class research, investment, specialist space and the kind of closely connected communities where collaboration is second nature.

As London looks ahead to the next decade of growth, the challenge will be to keep translating its advantages into impact.
