Skills Development
RoslinCT, a cell therapy CDMO based at our Edinburgh Technopole location, won the award for Outstanding Skills Development at Scotland’s Life Sciences Dinner and Annual Awards.
Scotland’s Life Sciences Dinner and Annual Awards recognise the outstanding achievements of individuals, companies, and research organisations within the sector. Its eight prestigious award categories celebrate a range of achievements, including: skills development, innovation, investment, innovative collaboration, and business leadership.
The award for Outstanding Skills Development is presented to a company based in Scotland that can evidence a significant and sustainable contribution in increasing skills and demonstrate the positive business outcomes achieved as a result.
Delivering Innovation in Health and Care
NuVision Biotherapies Ltd, based at our MediCity Nottingham location, received the Delivering Innovation to Health and Care Award at the Medilink Midlands Business Awards.
The Medilink Healthcare Business Awards celebrates the achievements of life science companies and showcases the very best examples of collaboration between industry, academia and the NHS.
The Delivering Innovation to Health and Care Award, recognises companies like NuVision that offer revolutionary care options for the healthcare service. NuVision’s innovative technology is helping patients with injuries to their eyes heal more fully and quickly and allows clinicians to treat patients earlier and without the need for admission for surgery in an operating theatre.

At the same awards ceremony, Upperton Pharma Solutions, an early phase pharmaceutical CDMO located at our BioCity Nottingham site, was awarded the Export Achievement Award. The award recognises Upperton’s outstanding performance in international trade.
Outstanding Contribution
The Bionow Awards shine a light on a wide variety of talent, with all nominees winners showcasing cutting-edge innovation, ingenuity, and most importantly solutions to real-world issues across the healthcare and life sciences sectors.
The award for Outstanding Contribution recognises an exceptional individual who has made a significant contribution to the sector throughout their career. This year’s recipient was Claire Thompson, CEO of Agility Life Sciences, which is a key member of our life science ecosystem at MediCity Nottingham.
Claire is an entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She is Entrepreneur in Residence at the University of Cambridge, Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham and founder and funder of the Girls In Football Teams (GIFT) Grant initiative. With a passion for demonstrating to girls where science can take them and providing opportunities for women and girls to excel, Claire chairs the global FIPWiSE (Women in Science and Education) initiative to engage, enable and empower girls and women.
To help Agility scale – and fast – during the pandemic, Claire also joined our Scale-Up Programme, giving her access to mentors, delegates and experts who mapped the route to quick and comprehensive scaling.
