About the speaker

Professor Derek Stewart is the Director of the Advanced Plant Growth Centre (APGC), a £33 million Tay Cities Deal initiative, and Co-Director of the National Alternative Protein Innovation Centre (NAPIC). With over 30 years of experience at the intersection of industry and academia, Professor Stewart has led research projects totalling over £300 million.

His core expertise lies in the discovery, innovation, and exploitation pipeline for crops, driving sustainable solutions for a growing global population. In this session, Professor Stewart will outline his vision for the future of sustainable feedstock and alternative proteinsinnovations that are being realised in the UK today.
