About PNO
PNO UK has a strong track record in securing some of the most competitive national and European grants on behalf of its clients, with a full understanding of how a project should be presented to stand the highest chance of success. Each year in the UK alone, we are responsible for the submission of more than 100 funding applications across all sectors and priority areas. Based on this extensive experience, through careful project selection and using key insight into how a project should be best positioned, we consistently achieve success rates that are more than 5 times the typical success rates for UK national schemes and EU programmes.
Dr Claire Flanagan, Senior Innovation Consultant
Claire started her career as a synthetic chemist for a CRO carrying out custom synthesis projects on behalf of pharma clients. She then returned to academia to complete a PhD in directed evolution of biocatalysts before working initially as a researcher then as a project manager. This included managing the IBCarb network – a Phase 1 BBSRC Network in Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy (NIBB) and winning funding for and managing CarboMet, a Horizon 2020 Coordination & Support Action.
Claire joined PNO in 2019 and works closely with clients to develop innovative R&D project proposals for submission to various UK national (Innovate UK, DSIT, DESNZ, DASA, NIHR) and European funding (Eurostars, Horizon Europe) competitions. She has a demonstrable track record of successfully securing grant funding on behalf of clients across the biotech, chemical, pharma, agritech and bio-energy sectors and is particularly interested in technologies and innovations that are aimed at improving sustainability and will contribute to the growing circular and biobased economies to achieve the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.
