Like previous reports, this edition focuses on the startup community, the future stars, but we have extended the scope to look at the wider life science company ecosystem, to gain a broader view of the sector.
This is the 10th report on the sector that Pioneer (previously BioCity) has produced, with data in those reports extending back as far as 2005. Comparing the first Life Science Report to this one highlights just how far the industry has come.
“Startups formed in the period 2005–2009 raised a total of £372m in those years, while companies formed in the 2020–2024 bracket raised just under £3b – eight times as much.”
