MIP Discovery, a leader in the field of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers (MIPs) based at our Colworth Science Park location, has received a significant grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the development of global rapid response diagnostics.
Improvement over antibodies
Effective diagnostic testing is crucial for managing disease outbreaks at a global level, and MIP Discovery’s animal/cell-free detection reagents are an improvement over antibodies. Alongside other technology partners selected by the foundation, MIP Discovery is collaborating to advance a novel roadmap for diagnostics at a mass scale in response to endemic or pandemic outbreaks.
Speed and scale
MIP Discovery’s proprietary imprinted polymer technology is able to meet the requirements for speed and scale of novel recognition reagents. The Company is optimizing processes to reduce the current timelines and design and scale up novel detection reagents in under four weeks. nanoMIP™ detection reagents can then be deployed using massively high throughput diagnostic platforms or lateral flow devices.
The new funding will help to enable low-cost, high-volume diagnostic tests, for low and middle-income countries during endemic or pandemic outbreaks.
