Scientist working in a shared laboratory

Government

Turning Research Strength into Lasting Economic Growth

We work with public partners, universities, investors and companies to support company formation and growth around a region’s scientific strengths.

Bringing company building, capital and specialist infrastructure together can help retain more of the resulting jobs, investment and capability close to where the science began.

Starting point

Every Region or Country Already Has Strengths to Build On

Every region or country we work in has research, talent, companies and institutions already in place. The starting point is those strengths and the outcomes you want for them: companies that form and stay, skilled jobs, investment that follows the science.

Government contributes local priorities, relationships and the conditions for delivery. Through the network it gains connections to research, industry, investors and other partners that support company growth, local capability and private delivery.

What we add

Company Building, Capital and Facilities Around Local Company Needs

We connect venture building, early-stage capital and specialist facilities around local company needs, working with the universities, investors and operators already active in the region.

Government

Local priorities, relationships and conditions for delivery.

Universities

Research and talent.

Operators

Facilities and local knowledge.

Investors

Capital.

Pioneer

The operating and investment capabilities that connect them around the companies.

Pioneer acquired the campus in 2021 and operates it, with a MedTech research and development focus.

Occupiers include Cytiva and DEFRA across around 180,000 sq ft, with consent for more.

Jobs created on site, investment attracted, skilled jobs and capability retained in the region.

National

National Priority

Commercialising research to help contribute to national security and sovereignty is a top priority for many governments. In the UK, the Industrial Strategy sets out the priority sectors but across them there is a clear ambition from government for high-tech companies to start, scale and stay.

This ambition is at the heart of Pioneer Group’s purpose and modus operandi, aligning venture building, venture capital and mission-critical real estate to provide the runway for these companies.

Partnership

How We Shape a Partnership

Locally or nationally, we start with your priorities and the research, companies and infrastructure already in place. Together, we consider where an integrated approach could support the next stage of growth. Our scope and activities are designed to complement and augment the existing activities on the ground.

Next Step

Discuss Your Region’s or Country’s Next Stage of Growth.

Tell us about your region’s strengths and priorities, the institutions and companies already there, and the outcomes you want for them. The conversation starts from what is already in place.
